Community/Meta

By Scottie Thomaston

– Chris Geidner talked to Senator Merkley and Rep. Polis about ENDA and the contractor executive order.

– In one of Rep. Barney Frank’s last interviews as a Congressman he discusses the Prop 8 and DOMA cases.

– The defense budget bill contains a watered-down “conscience provision” protecting anti-LGBT “beliefs”.

Also! Sao Paolo Brazil has started issuing Marriage Licenses! Many other states are looking at the same and will likely soon be national!

Newt Gingrich's support is not necessarily a good thing…

you have a keen knack for turning every relatively positive LGBT related news into a negative. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume you were…(and for the record, I don't know any better so you probably are)

While it's good news that even the staunchest conservatives are beginning to turn, I was commenting on how it's… Newt. His support isn't a good thing in itself for many causes, especially marriage-related ones. Sorry for seeming like a negative-Nancy, that wasn't my intention.

In other news, Dr. Mark Regnerus is still doing silly experiments on "teh gayz" and how they get their support for equality:

I was shocked to see him cited in Discover magazine last month, in an article about how the ratio of women to men impacts society. I don't know if anyone schooled them about his little "confirmation bias" problem or not, but…..

You are confusing me with Ilya Shapiro of the Cato Institute (the actual author of the Daily Caller article.

This is not Newt Gingrich accepting reality. I think we need to look at this as the Republican Party saying things to make them look more tolerant so when the next election cycle comes around they will look more inclusive to those independent voters who don't follow subjects on a daily basis, like we do. Then when they get in office all that tolerance will disappear with the legislation try to pass. Remember the term compassionate conservative. We need to always be aware of the games of politics.
