Breaking: Illinois Senate committee advances marriage equality bill

A big breaking news afternoon: the Senate Executive Committee has voted 9-5 to advance the Illinois marriage equality bill to the full Senate.

Senate President John Cullerton wants a full floor vote on the measure on Valentine’s Day.  The bill is expected to pass the Senate, while chances in the state House are less certain.
