The U.S. Supreme Court

– It’s June 10, which means there are only a couple of weeks left in the Supreme Court Term. None of the big cases were decided today. Along with the marriage cases, rulings on hugely significant racial justice questions are expected before the end of June, but the Court only released opinions on less controversial topics today. More opinions will be released on Thursday.

– SCOTUSBlog has an informative post on the Court’s remaining decision days and what may or may not happen for the rest of the Term.

– The New York Times has an insightful look at the presence of LGBT clerks who work for Supreme Court Justices, typically for a year. Clerks usually write first drafts of opinions (but not always) and the piece notes that while clerks wouldn’t reveal their sexual orientation in earlier years, most announce it in applying for clerkships.

– More legal experts weigh in on Prop 8, DOMA.

– Californians seem to be strongly in support of marriage equality in new poll.
