– Utah’s new attorney general has defended hiring outside counsel to handle the same-sex marriage case.

– A motion to consider adding a new defendant in the federal Louisiana marriage equality case will be decided on January 15; the case had been dismissed, but the plaintiffs are asking the judge to add the Secretary of the Department of Revenue in the state as a defendant.
