As I wrote on Monday, this is our last week of fundraising, and we really do need your help more than ever now. We’ve been asking for support to travel to Denver and cover oral arguments in the appeal of the Utah Kitchen marriage equality case, but now it looks like we need to go to Denver twice–and to do that, we really do need your help!
As Scottie reported just yesterday, the Utah appeal is now joined by the appeal of the Bishop case out of Oklahoma, and the Tenth Circuit has agreed to consider the two cases in tandem, albeit not on a parallel schedule. That means that oral argument for the two cases will happen on different dates, and with briefing in the Oklahoma case not scheduled to be completed until April 7, arguments for that case won’t happen until May at the earliest.
As always, we want to bring you on-the-ground coverage of these hearings, as we were able to do last year in Washington, D.C. and Trenton, New Jersey. But, of course, two trips costs more than one–it’s simple math. Please make a tax-deductible donation to help get us there!
If we raise $5,000, we can fund the site through the summer. If we raise $6,000, we can cover all our expenses to travel to Denver and cover the appeal of the Utah decision. If we raise $8,000, we can cover expenses for another possible trip to Denver for the inevitable appeal of the recent Oklahoma decision granting marriage equality. And if we make our goal of $10,000, we’ll be fully funded for all of 2014. We can only keep the site running if our readers make it happen. Please chip in whatever you can!
