6th Circuit Consolidates All Kim Davis Appeals

    Briefing Schedule:

  • 2. LK2013  |  October 1, 2015 at 10:11 am

Maybe the freaking Pope can write an amicus brief for Kimmie

  • 3. guitaristbl  |  October 1, 2015 at 12:19 pm

her god could write an amicus and she still would not win the case under american law

  • 4. hoodatsayhoodat  |  October 2, 2015 at 3:16 pm

Especially since an "omniscient" god couldn't manage to write a bible without twenty thousand mistakes, errors, contradictions and pure bullshit.

The Kleins are refusing to pay awarded damages to the couple for whom they refused to sell a wedding cake, despite raking in over half a million dollars in crowd funding for the purpose.

Next up: Liens on their assets.

  • 6. Mike_Baltimore  |  October 1, 2015 at 11:54 am

I have a feeling Kimme will soon not be the only bigot with the actual experience to describe the inside of a jail cell for contempt of court.

  • 7. guitaristbl  |  October 1, 2015 at 12:21 pm

Well they have a chance to be a Kim Davis plus save all that half million for themselves ! Win-win for them. Bold measures need to be taken to stop such phenomena from the courts.

I wonder what all those people who donated are thinking now? Oh that's right, they're using their donation to buy their way into heaven per their conscience.

  • 9. guitaristbl  |  October 1, 2015 at 12:33 pm

Oh now that they are "taking a stance" they may donate even more !
The idiocy knows no ends in such cases.

  • 10. jjcpelayojr  |  October 1, 2015 at 2:09 pm

As the saying goes, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

  • 11. Mike_Baltimore  |  October 1, 2015 at 2:13 pm

No, 'guitaristbl', I think the win-win is for the GLBT community.

All those dollars going to the bakers would probably be going to go to tRump or 'Dr.' carson. TRump's numbers are dropping now, and I don't see 'Dr.' carson being the nominee (who among the bigo – oops, I mean 'donors', to the bakers will vote for an African-American?).

  • 12. davepCA  |  October 1, 2015 at 2:28 pm

Agreed. When people donate money to these bakeries and other small businesses that got themselves into legal trouble by discriminating against citizens, that money just goes to buy trips to Disney World for the family that owns the business, or eventually to pay legal fees to reimburse the lawyers for our side. That's better than if that money went to some anti-LGBT organization or anti-LGBT candidate.

  • 13. guitaristbl  |  October 1, 2015 at 3:17 pm

And so what really ? If it isn't Trump or Carson as the republican nominee, it will be who ? Jeb or Rubio ? How is that any better ? The only vaguely sane person in the GOP line up is Kasich and of course he stands no stance really..

  • 14. Mike_Baltimore  |  October 1, 2015 at 4:20 pm

Did I say I'm for Bush and/or Rubio and/or any other GOTP candidate?

And you didn't mention Fiorina, who is currently tied with Rubio in the latest polls. I'm not accusing you of backing her, but your lack of mention of her is suspicious.

And when you speak of Kasich, what do you mean by 'he stands no stance really'? Did you mean 'no chance'? Something else?

  • 15. guitaristbl  |  October 1, 2015 at 6:02 pm

*sigh* I dont really care to go on about the GOP circus and no I did not know Fiorina was tied with Rubio, I dont really care to "support" any of these people..

And yes I meant no chance, it was a typo.

    Ok ?

Australian students Will Richards, 18, and Daniel Butson, 16, crafted a giant rainbow flag made out of 1,000 potatoes to support same-sex marriage rights in their home country. The pair spent two days spray painting the potatoes in six different colors for the massive project, which cost them $1,500 and was displayed on the lawn of Parliament House in Canberra, according to BuzzFeed.

Pope Francis’ Meeting Wasn’t an Endorsement of Kim Davis’s Views, Vatican Says [New York Times]

"Pope Francis’ encounter with Kim Davis last week in Washington, which was interpreted by many as a subtle intervention in the United States’ same-sex marriage debate, was part of a series of private meetings with dozens of guests and did not amount to an endorsement of her views, the Vatican said on Friday."

  • 18. Tony MinasTirith  |  October 2, 2015 at 4:40 am

Not that I care one bit about Kim and the Pope, but for what it's worth:

Senior Vatican officials say there is a 'sense of regret' over Pope Francis meeting with Kim Davis

Davis told ABC: “Just knowing that the pope is on track with what we’re doing and agreeing, you know, it kind of validates everything.”

The Vatican statement made clear the pope expressed no such sentiments

time for some backtracking from kimmy's camp

  • 19. JayJonson  |  October 2, 2015 at 6:08 am

Almost everything Staver and Kimmie have said about the meeting have been lies. Why are we surprised. More interesting is the probability that the Pope was punked by his nuncio, who appeared with Staver at the NOM rally earlier this year. Staver wanted to use the Pope to promote Kim Davis, the nuncio wanted to use Davis to humiliate the Pope. Very interesting dynamic at play in these intrigues.

Check out the additional damage control and impeccable timing being done now to backtrack from the Kim Davis fiasco. If the Pope/ could moonwalk…

  • 21. davepCA  |  October 2, 2015 at 12:31 pm

    From the article:

"The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis, and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects," Lombardi said in a statement issued Friday morning.

The article also mentions the pope meeting with a trans person from Spain earlier this year. Did not know that.

  • 22. aiislander  |  October 2, 2015 at 2:04 pm

I think this Pope just proved he can moonwalk as well as Michael Jackson could! This is too delicious for words!

  • 23. Lynn_E  |  October 2, 2015 at 1:02 pm

The meeting never should have happened. Of course, we will never hear the Nuncio's reasoning for inviting her. He would certainly have been aware of how the meeting would be viewed by Davis and her supporters, and probably has bought into the "spin" that this case is about personal religious rights.
This Pope, although much more progressive than the last two, is not our friend. His noble sentiments about "who am I to judge" aside, he would like nothing more than the conversation about the LGBT community to blow over. He knows that it is an argument that he will not win. Something tells me the Nuncio's retirement letter will be accepted quietly, he will be replaced, and the matter will be settled. Hopefully, future trips will be planned more diplomatically.
